School of Business Inducts Students into Honor Society
The School of Business recently inducted 17 students into its Lambda Phi chapter of Delta Mu Delta (DMD) during a special ceremony and dinner held on campus.
"The Delta Mu Delta Honor Society induction and dinner event is a highlight of the year as the School of Business celebrates the academic achievement of students," said Dr. Mava Wilson, DMD faculty adviser and associate professor of computer information systems at Lee. "We recognized those in the top 20% of their class who were invited to join because of their hard work academically and their commitment to excellence and service."
The undergraduate student inductees include Jeremy Bischoff, Shelby Brown, Morgan Carbaugh, Allison Cowan, Joy Douglass, Madison Grigsby, Cassidy Kennemore, Samuel Kropp, Paige Leamon, Joel Suave, Cameron Tucker, Matina Ujdur, McKaylee Willis, and Olivia Wright.
The graduate student inductees include Jennifer Baker, Lincoln Beavers, and Fabrizio Scimo.
The new officers for the 2022-23 school year were also voted in and include Bischoff, historian; Brown, secretary; Carbaugh, president; Kennemore, chaplain; Leamon, vice president; Suave, treasurer; and Cameron Tucker, public relations representative.
Dr. Michaelia Black, assistant professor of accounting at Lee, was also instated as an honorary inductee and co-adviser.
"This year's officers organized an outstanding induction event, and I am looking forward to working with next year's officers," said Wilson. "I am thrilled to have Dr. Michaelia Black as a DMD co-adviser."
DMD is an international honor society founded in 1913 that promotes higher scholarship in business education and recognizes and rewards superior scholastic achievement in business administration. Chapters of qualifying colleges and universities aim to create a DMD community that fosters the well-being of its individual member and the business community through life-time membership. The DMD name is a Greek phrase that translates to "through knowledge and power," the power to manage for social and economic good. The true student will seek and obtain knowledge for the greater purpose of helping others through service and transmission of things learned.
